Mechanic With Customer Using Digital TabletWhen your car has a problem, getting it fixed should always take top priority. Chances are you need the help of a working vehicle to go about your daily routine and fulfill any responsibilities you have. Without a working vehicle, you could miss work or social gatherings that you need to be present for. For this reason, finding the right mechanic for tune ups in Edgewood is essential for you. However, it is sometimes difficult to determine whether or not a mechanic is a good one or a bad one. Luckily, you can ask specific questions that will help you decide whether or not you have found a mechanic you can trust. Use these questions if you are having trouble.

Are You Licensed?

Licensed mechanics are the only way to go when it comes to repairing your vehicle. Licensed mechanics have been through specific training and know how to handle any and all problems that may arise in your vehicle. An auto repair shop that is not licensed is far more likely to give you repairs that will wear out quickly or that won’t solve the problem at all. Always be safe and choose a mechanic that is licensed. Most of the licensed shops will have proof proudly displayed, as they know it means a lot to their customers.

Makes and Models

Be sure the auto repair shop you choose is able to work on your make and model of vehicle. There are many shops that will take all comers, but there are also a lot of shops that specialize in certain makes and models and will not be able to work on your car. This happens with foreign vehicles all the time. You should be able to find a shop that works for you, but, if not, you can take the car to the dealership, where they have specialists that can help you out.

Warranties

A good, AAA-approved auto repair shop should be able to offer a warranty of at least 12 months/12,000 miles. This is a minimum and you should always try to get it on any repairs that are made on your vehicle. Make sure you know the warranty guarantee before entering into any agreement with the mechanic and get any and all estimates in writing. If more repairs are needed, the mechanic should contact you before proceeding, as you should have a say on any additional costs that may arise. Do not make the mistake of going to a mechanic that offers an unsatisfactory warranty and no written estimate.
